Lake Moultrie's Fishing Weather Forecast Fishing Guide Capt. Jim Kyle 912 210 2877

Lake Moultrie was created in the early 1940s by the South Carolina Public Service Authority in the building of the Santee Cooper Project. Located in Berkeley County, South Carolina, Lake Moultrie is the lower lake in this incredible lake system that is fed by the Santee River's Lake Marion through a Diversion Canal. These lakes are home to World and State Records  Catches.

We fish year round, day or night. In winter months the lakes don't form ice making excellent winter fishing that produces huge catfish. I can take a party of four comfortably on my Harris Floteboat Tritoon with enclosure, porta potty, and up to date electronics including sidescan sonar.

The lower lake provides varied fishing environments and covers about 60,000 acres. Unlike the upper lake, there are large open areas of water. Along the dikes there are shallow swamps, black water ponds, thousands of tree stumps and live cypress trees.  From Lake Moultrie you can venture through the Pinopolis Lock into the Tailrace Canal that takes you into the Cooper River and eventually empties into the Charleston Harbor. Nearby towns include Moncks Corner, Bonneau and St. Stephen.
